30th Anniversary of Bergzicht Training

Bergzicht Training in Stellenbosch has just celebrated its 30th anniversary. Over 12000 young people have gained important skills through Bergzicht's tailor-made training courses, which opened opportunities for employment and gave them the chance to live an independent and dignified life. The Hanns Seidel Foundation has supported Bergzicht since 1992.

Over the last three decades Bergzicht has become a well-known local institution and a beacon of hope for many: nearly 80 percent of graduates have been placed in permanent jobs which speaks for itself. Counting all the dependent family members and dependents of graduates, Bergzicht has helped transform the lives of over 110,000 people in the region and beyond. Its good integration into the local industry, its in-house employment agency and the realization that support beyond graduation is often needed to retain a job has made Bergzicht a true best practice example for training and development of young unskilled people.

As the Hanns Seidel Foundation, we are proud to be on the joint journey with Bergzicht Training from the start since 1992. 

On the 16th of March, we were happy to be part of a beautiful Anniversary celebration, with songs, dancing and insightful reflections. It was great to hear about Bergzicht Training’s past, present and future, and testimonies from graduates who are still connected with this special place of learning, many years later!
