Fighting organised crime a top priority

A high-level engagement between the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation and South African Police Service officials to enhance collaboration and pool resources to fight organised crime and corruption has just taken place with HSF support.

Organised crime poses a significant challenge to South Africa, threatening the country’s democratic institutions, its economy, and its citizens.

“Fighting organised crime requires therefore a joint approach across the criminal justice system” underlined Adv. Anton du Plessis, Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, in his remarks.

Intensive discussions around provincial implementation plans based on the NPA’s strategy against organised crime took place at the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa and South African Police Service Fighting Organised Crime workshop.
