Reckoning with South Africa's Past
20th Anniversary of the Truth Commission Report commemorated at the Nelson Mandela Foundation

The year 2018 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report being handed over to President Nelson Mandela. Our partners at the NMF held an event to mark this historic day, which was co-hosted by the HSF. It also saw the launch of important online resources.

The Roundtable took place in the Boardroom of the Nelson Mandela Foundation

On this occasion, an important online archival collection of hundreds of documents was launched - they had been used in the drafting of "Dare not Linger", a semi-autobiographic account of the presidential years of Nelson Mandela which had recently been written by renowned author Mandla Langa. A report about archival activism in South Africa was launched on the night as well.  We are honoured to have supported this special event of memory and reflection, of celebrating activism and of inspiring conversations.

Read the moving, enlightening account of the evening published by the Nelson Mandela Foundation which contains links to all the new, free online resources - it conveys the spirit of the event in photographs as well:
