Strategic approach to training

The productive workshop sessions were designed to respond to critical training needs. They discussed organizational development, different registration options for crèches and ECD centers as well as compliance and government funding for ECD Social Enterprises.

Feedback from the participants, who had been consulted in the planning phase, indicated that they found the capacity training important and the content very applicable in their environments.

Early childhood development - an important focus area

In 2018, following multi disciplinary research and long term strategy engagements, the Nelson Mandela Foundation has identified Early Childhood Development as a key area to focus its work on in the country.

Moreover, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced during the Presidency Budget Vote in May 2018 that he will donate half of his salary to a fund to support Early Childhood Development work, asking the Nelson Mandela Foundation to manage this special fund.
