Our Civics Academy team held a productive meeting at the Department of Higher Education in Pretoria recently. The collaboration will enable Technical Colleges to use our Civics Academy videos in Life Orientation lessons.

The meeting was held together with representatives from the Department of Basic Education, Wits University, the Human Sciences Research Council, representatives from TVET (Technical) colleges and other experts from different provinces of South Africa. The Roundtable discussion focussed on the introduction of innovative methods to facilitate Civic Education at Technical Colleges in Life Orientation classes.

Use of Civics Academy Videos

Some of the educational videos we produced, which are available free of charge on the Civics Academy website (www.civicsacademy.co.za ) will be adapted for use in the interactive classes, using blended learning methodologies. Teacher guides will be produced as a next step with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation, and teacher training will follow soon.
