AGDA, a multi stakeholder institution, will support sustainable land reform and transformation in the Agriculture Industry - as a private sector initiative, working with government in specific projects. AGDA aims to provide support, training and financing, and it will address existing barriers via an Integrated Farmer Development Program and a Revolving Loan Fund. There will be a focus on capacity building, as well as on access to affordable capital.
At the launch with hundreds of people, many from the South African agricultural sector, Rudi Dicks from the South African Presidency and Minister Thoko Didiza expressed appreciation and full government support for the institution which will work in conjunction with different departments of government. Nick Serfontein, a member of President Cyril Ramaphosa's Advisory Panel on Land Reform, stated in his speech that he is convinced the Agricultural Development Agency will change the face of South African agriculture.
The launch found a keen echo in South African media.
