We experienced beautiful, unique and truly enlightening tributes by family members, friends and colleagues for a great man - a lifelong outspoken activist and a wise, critical thinker, an award-winning, internationally celebrated writer and acclaimed poet, a creative educator and dedicated, transformative civil society leader.

Achmat Dangor was renowned, admired and much loved for his resolute sense of justice and his practical discipline, his infectious humour and his sharp wit, his uplifting warmth and his encouraging kindness. He was a cherished mentor and a highly accomplished institution builder whom this nation owes immense gratitude.

Listen to profound, inspiring contributions by former President Kgalema Motlanthe, Mam Graca Machel, fellow writers, artists, civil society leaders, colleagues, friends and family members of this great South African. His legacy will live on in his literary works, through the lives of so many he touched and in the institutions he shaped with his teams.
