German-African Conference of Parliamentarians

We joined the German-African Conference of Parliamentarians with our long-standing partner, the Institute for Security Studies, and its Executive Director Fonteh Akum, for a week full of engagements, looking at how to improve the bilateral cooperation in the age of a new geopolitical rivalry.

Important discussions, in challenging times

The conference in Berlin offered numerous opportunities for productive discussions between parliamentarians and experts from different countries in Africa and Europe. Apart from the panel discussions, numerous bilateral engagements were appreciated as very valuable as well.

Crucial conversations

Dr Fonteh Akum, ISS Executive Director, was also in discussion with MPs Wolfgang Stefinger, Roderich Kiesewetter and Peter Ramsauer on how to foster smart Africa-Germany-Europe cooperation in the age of new geopolitical rivalry. We need context-specific policy and programming that strengthens human security.
