Phindile Ntliziywana, Eastern Cape Provincial Government, spoke about the professionalisation of senior management in South Africa. Based on her doctoral research on the topic, she outlined a considered critique of the legal framework for professionalisation. Are we following the right legal/institutional approach towards professionalisation of senior management in local government?
Fatima Rawat, Ethics Institute, contributed reflections on the topic, based on the Ethics Institute's Local Government Ethics Commitee Handbook. What are the key components of integrity management in local government and what role do councillors and senior managers play in this?
