Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Hanns Bühler, Regional Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Southern Africa

The partnership agreements were signed by the Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde and other representatives of the Bavarian partner province in South Africa and the City of Cape Town as well as the Regional Representative of the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Southern Africa.
From the joint media release published by the Western Cape Government:
“The initiative, which will run until May 2025, is funded by the provincial government’s long-standing German partner province, the Free State of Bavaria.”
“The project focuses on strengthening data-driven and evidence-based policing approaches through building solid partnerships between numerous law enforcement agencies, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).”
“At the same event, the long-running cooperation between the WCG and HSF on strengthening the capacity of local government, as well as the support of research focusing on key municipal challenges, was also renewed.”

Representatives from diverse partner institutions and stakeholder organisations had gathered at the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation for the event marking the signing of the partnership agreements.
The Hanns Seidel Foundation has been cooperating successfully with the Bavarian partner province Western Cape for many years, and the partnership has grown and developed further over time.
