In this interview just published as part of "Global Perspectives", a new podcast series by the Hanns Seidel Foundation, he emphasises the diversity of African countries and pays particular attention to economic and social developments, including the looming debt crisis. He shares results of current studies on the impact of Covid-19, amongst them a new report published by the Institute for Security Studies together with the Gordon Institute of Business Science and other partners, supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation:
Promising cross sector collaborations are described, and special attention is given to South African dynamics and German perspectives. The role of Europe in providing assistance to its neighbouring continent and in drafting a joint agenda for the future relationship is explored, in comparison to other global actors as well.
The conversation includes a focus on key areas for a sustainable development and resilience, such as health systems, education, energy, digitalisation, free trade, demographics and job intensive inclusive growth.
