It was very encouraging to experience the insightful and inspiring sessions during a special first two-day module this week.
The participants from different Waterberg Municipality offices, civil society, businesses and traditional leaders will continue to interact and learn jointly with great guest speakers and trainers over coming weeks.
Situational analysis in the first Module looked at South African crises, the important role of infrastructure, institutions, individuals - all in the global context.
Participants discussed challenges in the Waterberg district, and assets and strategies to work on them. Great presentations and deep reflections were shared on urgent change, agency, innovation, and collaborative ways forward.
The extremely engaging, interactive leadership training sessions and exercises were truly appreciated by the participants.
They referred to historic and current examples from South Africa and abroad.
With a focus on self awareness, the sessions equally shed light on aspects of team work, an organisational development approach and context awareness - laying the foundation for coming modules.
The focus areas of upcoming modules will include work on communication, crucial conversation skills, project management and stakeholder involvement.
An action learning approach will also facilitate future cross-sector collaborations.
The innovative program had been developed by multi disciplinary experts and practicians in consultation with stakeholder representatives from the area.
