On Think Tanks Conference in Johannesburg

Over 140 think tank leaders, researchers, policy professionals and representatives from foundations and other funding institutions from more than 40 countries on six continents gathered at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg for the 9th annual Global OTT Conference.

The very apt theme of this year's conference was “Impact - Challenging our understanding of influence" - and it was great to join the hugely informative and engaging conference!

During Plenary sessions in the packed auditorium at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and during the many parallel interactive workshops, participants followed insightful presentations and engaged in lively exercises and practical, experience-based, robust discussions.

How to facilitate public discourse, evidence-based policy making, and effective implementation?

Participants from many countries discussed the role, strategies, and impact of Think Tanks and their ecosystems. Many expressed their appreciation for the valuable, rich conversations.

During a post-conference session on Global Lessons on State Capture, renowned international experts discussed related experiences and recommendations, including the urgent need for building institutional resilience.
