The workshop had been initiated by Major-General Reddy from the Eden Cluster of the South African Police Service SAPS. It was facilitated by senior researcher Dr. Andrew Faull and our partner team of the Justice and Violence Prevention Program at the Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria.

The workshop participants had heard enlightening presentations by experts on evidence-based policing. A discussion is gaining traction on how to best include evidence-based policing in cross sector collaborations in South Africa which aim to facilitate improved policing, especially given the high crime statistics, the complex reasons behind them and the relatively low success rates shown by the criminal justice system.
