Train-the-Trainer events
Tutu Courageous Leadership Workshops

It was great to experience Tutu Courageous Leadership Course Facilitation Workshops in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Participants learn to work with groups in jointly exploring videos and exercises of the Courageous Leadership Course developed by the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.

„Where did you need to be courageous in the recent past?“ With this speed networking question the facilitator set the scene with participants for each of the one-day courses.

The train-the-trainer workshops took place with members of the YearBeyond team at the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation in Cape Town, and with teachers from Teachers CAN South Africa at the Sophiatown Trevor Huddleston Memorial Centre in Johannesburg.

Over the coming months, the experienced facilitator Juanitill Pettus will conduct further Train-the-Trainer workshops with other organisations in Cape Town and Gauteng as well.

She also played a leading role in developing the Course Facilitation Guide which contains a wealth of practical exercises and valuable reflections. It’s based on the online Tutu Courageous Leadership Course, which includes five inspiring short videos.

The Tutu Courageous Leadership Course and the Facilitation Workshops are part of our partnership project with the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation which is supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery.

The course was launched with a public event in Cape Town in June.
