Description

South Africa has made progress in the 30 years of its democratic development. However, the country faces serious challenges, such as high unemployment, inequality, poverty and crime, sluggish economic growth, and problems in the public education and health systems. The data-based, comprehensive country report outlines the current development path and recommends ambitious yet possible policy interventions in key sectors of society, to arrive at a combined best possible scenario. If achieved, it would improve the prospects of South Africa by 2043 significantly, compared to the current path: a further increase in GDP per capita by 34 % points, and an additional decline in poverty by 9 % points.
