Offering training that opens up new life opportunities

Bergzicht Training has a longstanding history of success. Founded in the early 1990s and having received support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation since then, the centre situated in the heart of Stellenbosch does very practical, meaningful work. Young people from local disadvantaged communities complete training courses that significantly increase their chances of finding jobs or of successful entrepreneurship. A focus lies on sectors with a demand for skilled workers in the area, such as the hospitality industry, childcare and frail care. The holistic programs include IT courses, psycho social support offerings and work readiness training, and success rates are very high - many thousands of people could improve their lives through Bergzicht Training.

New video showcases the work at Bergzicht

A short new video about Bergzicht Training has just been produced and published with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. It introduces the concept behind the programmes, touches on the history of the Training Centre, and gives voice to some of the recent students. It also shows how Bergzicht offers training to students from disadvantaged communities where people of colour would otherwise often not be able to receive meaningful further education. The video will be very useful in future work, and it provides a great opportunity to get to know the award winning project. Watch the video here:
