Opening our Evidence Based Policing workshop with South African Police Service Western Cape top management and Bavarian Police experts, Provincial Commissioner General Patekile underlined: the objective must be to ensure that every citizen in the Western Cape can enjoy the liberty enshrined in the beautiful South African Constitution.

A frank and open exchange on how to strengthen crime analysis capacities, and on the importance of operational decisions being guided and determined by evidence based information, was appreciated by the participants.

In a 2-day workshop, Assistant Detective Chief Constable Bernhard Egger from the Bavarian State Office of Crime Investigation was exchanging views with top management of City of Cape Town law enforcement agencies on how to fight crime with an evidence based approach, building on the safety plan of the province - productive discussions with highly committed participants!
