Discussing civic education
Visit by Speaker and Presidium of Bavarian Parliament in Cape Town

At the The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation and during their visit to Bavaria’s partner region Western Cape, we had the great pleasure to discuss with the Presidium and the Speaker of the Bavarian Parliament Ilse Aigner the importance of civic education for democracy and leadership.

Valuable conversations

We appreciated the opportunity for a productive, insightful exchange on the importance of democracy education internationally and on the strategy and implementation of collaborative civic education projects.

We were grateful to Phumi Nhlapo, Chief Operating Officer of the Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, for guiding us through the wonderful, enlightening exhibition and telling us about South Africa’s rich history and the Arch’s role and achievements.

As the Speaker of the Bavarian Parliament Ilse Aigner emphasised, our exchange is even more important in these challenging times.
